The Administrative Division of the Newark Police Department consists of the Chief of Police, Police Captain and Traffic Violations Clerk. The Chief of Police is responsible for determining long range planning for the department, fiscal management and is responsible to the Village of Newark Mayor and Trustees.
The Police Captain is the second in line supervisor of the Patrol Division and first line supervisor of the Criminal Investigation Division, department manpower scheduling, department training and grant opportunities.
The Traffic Violations Clerk is responsible for the every day operations of greeting customers at the lobby window, answering requests for information, filing of officer reports, maintaining databases for department purchases, handicap parking permits, and processing bad checks for local businesses.
