Newark is proud of the new walking trail along the Erie Canal.  With nearly 2 miles of a scenic, well maintained trail, this has become a favorite of walkers, joggers, and cyclists.

Newark has both public and private facilities for recreation.  It is also located in an area where access to Lake Ontario, the Fingerlakes and many State, Federal and privately owned parks and forest areas are within easy reach.  As such, the recreational advantages of this area are hard to beat.

Newark supports several parks that contain baseball diamonds for the Peewee League, Little League and Pal League organizations.  Vince Lombardi football is also available within the boundaries of Newark.  Youth basketball leagues have been formed and are very popular.  There are several tennis and basketball courts available on a no charge basis.  Private tennis on a fee basis is also an option.

There is a private golf course within the village and a public executive course just outside.

Indoor activities for our youth and adults are available at the Newark Community Center which has basketball, volleyball and pocket billiard facilities available.  This organization also supports leagues.

For those interested in quieter forms of entertainment, Perkins Park offers a great atmosphere for walks or picnicking.  The new Melinda Gray Ardia Park offers a walk through wildlife gardens and wetlands on 15 acres.  It is open to the public during daylight hours.  The park contains a replica of the Claude Monet Garden Bridge of Giverny France, seen in many of his paintings.  The park is located at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Marbletown Road.

The Erie canal flows through the village center.  It offers many opportunities for walking, bike riding and boating.

Hunting, fishing and camping are widely practiced at the forests and lakes that occur abundantly in this beautiful area.
