WWTP BuildingThe Village of Newark wastewater system covers a service area of 5.4 square miles.  It's comprised of stormwater sewers, separate sanitary sewers, eight pump stations, and a 3 MGD activated sludge wastewater plant.  The wastewater plant was originally constructed in the early 1900's with limited treatment.  The first major upgrade to the facility was done in the 1930's with others completed in the late 1960's and the mid-1980's.  The plant discharge which goes to Ganargua Creek is monitored daily by the plant staff and the results are reported monthly to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.

ClarifierThe Village Board has committed to continued improvements to the collection system and the treatment facility through grants and other revenues.  Some of the upcoming projects and improvements include a new emergency generator, solids handling improvements, repairing and upgrading pump stations, and data collection for monthly reporting to the permitting agencies.Aeration Blowers
