Village Parks

Perkins Park GazeboDuring the year, residents and visitors alike can come and enjoy the ten  parks located within the Village of Newark.  From covered pavilions to playgrounds and skating rinks to baseball fields, our parks allow individuals to connect with family and friends.

Perkins Park PavilionFor parks that will meet everyone's needs, visit Perkins and Ross Parks - both are open May 1st through October 15th.  Perkins Park is centrally located in the middle of the Village with public parking.  It has two covered pavilions and a concession building with public restroom facilities.  The park has a children's playground and plenty of room for a variety of outdoor activities - youth baseball/softball fields and walking path.

A smaller version of Perkins Park, Ross Park is in the north end of the Village with entrance off Frey Street.  The park has a covered pavilion with picnic tables, public parking, and restrooms.  An elementary playground and youth baseball/softball fields allow kids of all ages to enjoy summer activities, while the ice skating area provides a venue for winter sports.

Frey Street Baseball Field

The community's youth participate in activities at the Youth Baseball fields at the corner of Hoffman Street and East Maple Avenue with the Youth Softball fields on Frey Street and at Colburn Park on Route 31 East.

Central ParkCentral Park, in the downtown area of the Village, provides an area for summer band concerts within a covered grandstand area, with park benches for seating.  A large water fountain decorates the middle of the park.  This park is open year round and can be used for casual usage by the general public.

Veterans Memorial

Another attraction within Central Park is the Veterans Memorial.  This memorial is dedicated to all branches of military service.  This beautiful memorial was a corroborative effort with the Village Board and Veterans of Foreign Wars.  Terry DeVries of Triangle Design designed the concept.

T. Spencer Knight ParkLocated on VanBuren Street, the T. Spencer Knight Canal Port is located between the Veteran's Bridge (East Avenue) and North Main Street Bridge.  The gazebo, benches and swings provide a beautiful resting spot for residents and visitors.

K&M Demay Skate RinkThe K&M DeMay Skate Park on East Avenue is open for skate boarders and BMX bikers in the spring, summer, and fall months weather permitting.  Registration form completion and the wearing of safety equipment is required to enter the Skate Park area.  For winter months, an ice skating rink is available on Frey Street next to the softball fields.

Colburn ParkColburn Park, located on Route 31 East, is home to baseball teams and youth football, and provides a concession stand and restrooms.
