Newarkfest is an annual family event held during the second weekend in June at Central Park and downtown Newark. The festival features music, family events, arts and crafts, entertainment, fireworks, and a display of the community spirit that residents and service organizations have developed over the years.
An added feature during the Newarkfest is the St. Michael's Family Festival held on church grounds. They feature homemade food, games, car raffle, and amusement rides.
Another popular event is the museum open house of the Newark-Arcadia Historial Society held during the festival. The museum is located at 120 High Street (across from the Newark Public Library) and features new exhibits and displays, antique shows, and appraisals.
The Annual Rose Parade is held on the Saturday of Newarkfest with the Duck Race in in the canal along T. Spencer Knight Park.
Residents and visitors have looked forward to this festival for over 24 years.
